Odisha Vigilance has arrested Susanta Kumar Sethy, Junior Engineer, R&B, Khariar under the Nuapada R&B Division, on charges of disproportionate assets (DA).
He will be presented before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, today.
Search operations conducted by vigilance officials uncovered significant unaccounted assets, including three multi-storeyed buildings, a farmhouse, nine high-value plots, two luxury vehicles (including a benami car), Rs. 55 lakhs in deposits, and household items worth over Rs. 14 lakhs.
Further investigations suggest Sethy attempted to hide Rs. 55 lakhs in cash and 1.4 kg of gold in his tenant’s house to evade detection. However, the tenant allegedly usurped these assets, leading Sethy’s spouse to file an FIR at Dhouli Police Station (FIR No. 93 dated 13.4.2024). Odisha Vigilance is currently verifying the origins of the seized cash and gold.
This arrest underscores the government’s intensified crackdown on corruption, reinforcing transparency and accountability in public service.
