Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Snehangini Chhuria has strongly refuted claims that she is an outsider in the upcoming Nuapada by-election. She said her focus is on serving the people and continuing the region’s development, not political labels.
‘I am not an outsider,’ says Snehangini
Speaking to reporters, Chhuria made it clear that she stands by her candidacy and enjoys the support of both her community and the people of Nuapada.
“Winning or losing is a different matter, but I am determined to fight. I am not an outsider,” she said.
She added that her selection as the candidate was based on collective agreement within the BJD committee, and that she is confident in the team’s decision.
“I was part of the committee that selected the candidate, and everyone supported me,” she explained.
Chhuria accuses Jay Dholakia of ‘selling his father’s honour’
Launching a pointed attack on her BJP rival Jay Dholakia, Chhuria accused him of compromising the values of his late father.
“Jay Dholakia has betrayed the pride of Dholakia Bapa and sold his honour. He does not deserve any sympathy,” she said.
The remarks have stirred strong political reactions across the constituency, signaling a fierce campaign ahead.
Response to Lambodar Nial’s exit
Commenting on Lambodar Nial’s recent departure from the BJD, Chhuria said it would not affect the party’s morale or the election outcome.
“His exit will have no impact on the BJD or the people’s trust in us,” she noted.
So far, the BJP and Jay Dholakia have not issued any response to her comments.
