In the address at the 18th edition of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi lauded Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) for their pivotal role in preserving Indian culture and driving growth on the global stage.
The event, held in Bhubaneswar, saw a large gathering of NRIs and members of the Indian diaspora.
CM Majhi emphasized the significant contributions of NRIs, calling them the custodians of Indian culture and ambassadors of India’s growth. “I extend an open invitation to reconnect with your roots and rediscover the magic of Odisha. Whether it is through cultural exchanges, business ventures, or educational collaborations, we welcome your ideas, investments, and entrepreneurship,” he stated.
Highlighting the opportunities in Odisha, the Chief Minister spoke about the state’s advancements in technology, renewable energy, infrastructure development, education, and tourism. He urged NRIs to engage with Odisha’s development, promoting ‘Brand Odisha’ globally.
“The culture and heritage of Odisha are unique,” Majhi said, inviting NRIs to explore the state’s natural beauty, including the architectural grandeur of the Konark Sun Temple and the spiritual aura of the Jagannath Temple in Puri. He expressed hope that by reinforcing bonds with Odisha, NRIs could aid in the development of the state and the nation.
The event also showcased Odisha’s rich cultural heritage through various activities, including the International Odissi Dance Festival and the Adivasi Mela, reflecting the state’s vibrant traditions.
CM Majhi concluded his speech by instilling a sense of unity and collaboration among the attendees, stating, “Together, we can become stronger and work towards a developed India (Viksit Bharat).”
