To ensure that the benefits of ration cards reach the rightful recipients, the Odisha government has announced a physical survey to identify the actual beneficiaries.
Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra confirmed that the survey would determine the final list of eligible beneficiaries.
Currently, around 30.73 lakh people have not completed their e-KYC, with a deadline set for March 31. Following this, departmental officers will conduct field visits to investigate why some beneficiaries have not fulfilled the e-KYC requirement.
Minister Patra reassured the public that there would be no abrupt deactivation of ration cards during this process.
Meanwhile, over 6.35 lakh applications for new ration cards have already been submitted via the state portal, with 50,000 new applications processed through the updated system. Verifying these applications is expected to conclude by April 15, ensuring a fair and transparent system.
This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency and equity of ration card distribution in Odisha.
