No Flood Alert in Odisha; Subarnarekha Calms Down, 6 Hirakud Gates to be Opened Amid Rains

The Chief Engineer of the State Water Resources Department today confirmed that there is no flood situation in Odisha.


According to the official, the Subarnarekha River is witnessing a declining water level, and there is currently no concern of a major flood in the state.

🌧 Rainfall and River Basin Update:

  • No heavy rainfall was recorded in most basins.
  • Sundargarh and Chhattisgarh witnessed isolated showers, but other regions remain dry.
  • No flood alerts have been issued in any region.

🚪 Hirakud Dam Action Plan:

  • In anticipation of excess inflow, six gates of the Hirakud Dam will be opened to regulate discharge.

👨‍💼 Administrative Vigilance:

  • The state government and district administrations remain on standby to address any sudden weather changes.
  • Preparedness measures are in place should there be further rainfall.
