India’s Nitin Gupta made a remarkable impact at the Asian U-18 Youth Athletics Championship, clinching a silver medal in the 5000m race walk event.

Gupta clocked 20:21.51 seconds, finishing just 0.01 seconds behind China’s Zhu Ninghao, who secured gold with a time of 20:21.50 seconds.

Meanwhile, Chinese Taipei’s Sheng Qin Lo claimed the bronze, clocking 21:37.88 seconds.

Gupta has been consistently improving, having broken his own national record in the National Youth Athletics Championship in Patna last month, where he achieved a personal best of 19:24.48 seconds.

Indian athletes will continue their pursuit of excellence later in the competition, competing in discus throw, long jump, 100m, and 400m sprints across various categories.
