National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has made a significant achievement by securing the 191st rank in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2025.
Among Indian institutions, it proudly holds the 12th position and is the top and only NIT to feature in the top 200 universities across the continent.
The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings provide the most comprehensive assessment of Asia’s research universities. This year, it evaluated 853 universities from 35 countries and territories, based on 18 performance indicators across research, teaching, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. The rankings are widely regarded by students, academics, policymakers, and industry leaders.
On this remarkable feat, Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, the Director of NIT Rourkela, stated, “It is encouraging to see our innovative efforts acknowledged on a global scale. The achievement is even more meaningful as we were recently selected as the only NIT to be a Hub Institute under the ANRF’s PAIR programme. I extend my congratulations to the NIT Rourkela community. The institute has established a strong foundation for collaborative research and knowledge exchange, encouraging innovation and accelerating academic development, and we look forward to continued progress and future accomplishments.”
