A newlywed woman left her in-laws’ house with her lover just two days after marriage, sparking a dramatic police case in Boudh district.
The incident occurred in the Kantamal area, where police detained the woman and her lover following a complaint from her husband. The woman married Tilu Bhoi of Mursing village in Balangir district on February 22. However, within two days, she fled with her lover, Subas Chandra Sah,u from Kantamal.
Her husband filed a written complaint at the Degam police station, prompting authorities to launch a search. Kantamal police tracked down the couple and detained them. Officers later handed them over to the Degam police for further investigation.
The case has drawn attention across the region, highlighting tensions between family honour and personal choice. Police continue to question both individuals while the husband awaits legal action.
The incident shocked locals, who expressed disbelief at the sudden turn of events. Authorities are now examining the circumstances that led to the woman’s decision to leave her marital home so soon after the wedding.
