A newborn baby boy was rescued after being found abandoned in a bush near the Chasagurujang playground under Pallahara police limits in Angul district late Monday night.
Local residents heard the infant’s cries and immediately alerted the district administration. Officials rushed to the spot and discovered the baby lying in a bush near the playground.
The Palalahada Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), police, and a team of officials coordinated the rescue. They arranged for the baby’s transportation to the Palalahada Sub-Divisional Hospital via ambulance.
Doctors admitted the newborn to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The baby’s health is reported to be stable, and he continues to receive medical care.
Police have launched an investigation to identify the parents and determine the circumstances that led to the abandonment. Authorities are treating the case with urgency given the sensitivity of the matter.
