The Supreme Court on Friday approved a request by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to reschedule the NEET-PG 2025 exam to August 3, after the Board cited logistical constraints in holding the test in a single shift earlier.

Originally slated for June 15, the exam will now be held in one shift from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM on August 3.

The apex court, in its May 30 directive, asked NBEMS to ensure uniformity and fairness by avoiding multiple shifts, which could lead to variation in difficulty levels. In response, NBEMS contacted its technology partner Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which confirmed that a single-shift exam on June 15 was not feasible due to insufficient time for infrastructure updates.

TCS later proposed August 3 as the earliest possible date, which would allow enough time to set up over 1,000 test centers in nearly 250 cities, accommodating 2.70 lakh candidates, including buffer capacity.

NEET-PG is a critical qualifying exam for admission into postgraduate medical programs across India.
