Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Tuesday allowed some more time to Special Investigation Team (SIT) to file final report in connection with the case of rape and murder of a 5-year-old girl in Nayagarh district.
The apex court has fixed the next hearing on January 25.
Worth mentioning, a youth identified as, Saroj Sethi, was arrested by the SIT on charges of murder of the five-year-old girl.
The girl was killed on July 14 and her skeletal remains were found from the backyard of her house on July 23. However, the incident came to limelight when the deceased girl’s parents attempted self-immolation before the Odisha Assembly.
The state government subsequently ordered an SIT probe after opposition BJP and Congress raised the matter in the Assembly.
