The seventh day of Navratri, falling on September 28, 2025, is dedicated to Maa Kaalratri, one of the most fearsome and powerful forms of Goddess Durga.
Devotees honour her as the destroyer of evil and negativity, seeking her blessings for courage, wisdom, and protection from harm.
Significance of Maa Kaalratri
Maa Kaalratri is depicted with a dark complexion, unkempt hair, and a garland of human skulls. She rides a donkey, holding a cleaver and a torch in her left hands while her right hands grant blessings and protection. Her fierce appearance symbolizes the destruction of ignorance and the victory of truth.
She is also associated with alleviating Shani dosha, a malefic planetary influence. Many worshippers pray to her for relief from Shani’s effects and to gain mental strength to overcome obstacles. Yogis and spiritual seekers revere her as a deity who helps activate the crown chakra and attain spiritual powers (siddhis).
Colour of the Day – Orange
The colour associated with Day 7 is orange, representing energy, enthusiasm, and positivity. Devotees wear orange clothes, offer orange flowers, saffron, and cloth to Maa Kaalratri as part of their prayers.
