Odisha’s proven expertise in orchestrating high-profile events is set to shine as the state prepares for the inaugural National Mediation Workshop on September 28.
Law, Excise, and Registration Minister Prithviraj Harichandan urged officials to leverage past experiences for a flawless execution, emphasising inter-departmental synergy during a high-level review meeting here today.
The minister highlighted the establishment of a dedicated control room to monitor operations, stringent protocols for judges and VIPs, and holistic coordination across all departments to ensure the event’s success. “Odisha stands tall in managing grand spectacles, and our seasoned officers hold invaluable insights. Let’s draw from that to make this workshop unforgettable,” Harichandan stated, underscoring the need for guests to leave with cherished memories of Odia hospitality.
The meeting, chaired by the minister, brought together key stakeholders including Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary Surendra Kumar, Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania, Law Secretary Manas Ranjan Barik, and Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner Devdatta Singh. Discussions covered critical logistics: detailed itineraries for attending judges, VVIPs, and dignitaries; agenda topics for sessions; venue arrangements; seamless travel and accommodation; and curated excursions to iconic sites like Puri, Konark, and the Lingaraj Temple.
Security and traffic management during the workshop emerged as focal points, with directives for robust measures to handle the influx of high-profile participants. This landmark event marks the first time Odisha hosts the National Mediation Workshop, drawing luminaries such as Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai, alongside fellow Supreme Court judges, state chief justices, law ministers, and Advocates General from across the country.
Harichandan reiterated the collective responsibility: “From arrival to departure, every moment must reflect Odisha’s warmth and efficiency, ensuring our guests depart with smiles and stories to tell.”
Other attendees included Principal Secretary for Commerce and Transport Suranjita Jena and Additional Secretary for Law Shiv Prasad Mahapatra, representing a cross-section of relevant departments committed to the event’s triumph.
As preparations intensify, the workshop promises to advance mediation practices nationwide while showcasing Odisha’s event management prowess on a prestigious stage.
