A 20-year-old woman, identified as Astama Gauda from Kosagumuda block, Nabarangpur district, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on Saturday evening.
According to her father, Astama had gone outside around 7 PM for a nature call. Shortly thereafter, a neighbour alerted the family upon discovering her unconscious under a mango tree near the village outskirts.
She was immediately taken to the Kosagumuda Community Health Centre but was declared dead during treatment. The family has lodged a formal complaint with the Kosagumuda Police Station, suspecting murder.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to uncover the cause of her sudden death.
