A 2nd-year Philosophy student of Utkal University, Tapas Ranjan Nayak, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in his hostel room early this morning.
Nayak was residing at the Madhusudhan Hostel on campus.
According to sources, Nayak went to bed as usual on Saturday night, only to be discovered unresponsive by his roommates the next morning. His death has sent shockwaves throughout the university community, with friends and peers remembering him as a bright and cheerful individual.
Upon being alerted, the hostel authorities informed the police. The deceased’s body was transferred to Capital Hospital for further examination. Preliminary inquiries involved questioning Nayak’s roommates and friends, none of whom reported any unusual behavior the previous night.
Authorities are treating the case as a suspicious death. Investigators are currently searching for any evidence that may hint at foul play. Nayak’s family has been informed and is expected to arrive in Bhubaneswar soon, after which a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
