Jajpur: A 22-year-old woman’s mutilated body was recovered by police from a graveyard near the OCC colony under Dharmashala police limits in the Jajpur district on Tuesday.
It is suspected that the woman has been murdered, police said. The deceased woman has been identified as Upasana Jena of the same locality.
According to reports, the woman died on Sunday, and following this, the family members of the deceased buried her body in the graveyard.
After a complaint was received from the locals, the police reached the spot, interrogated the deceased’s family members, and exhumed the decomposed body from the graveyard.
“We have started interrogating the kin of the deceased and also sent the body to a local hospital for the post mortem. The actual reason behind the death will be ascertained after the post-mortem report comes,” a police official said.
A case of unnatural death has been registered and further investigation is underway, reports said.
