A tragic and puzzling incident has unfolded in Cuttack district, where a young woman from Athagarh’s Badamba block died under mysterious circumstances due to burn injuries.
The victim was initially rushed to Badamba hospital and then transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as her condition worsened. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.
According to local sources and family members, the incident may have stemmed from emotional distress related to a failed love affair. Her father alleged that someone persistently contacted her, and under emotional duress, she set herself ablaze. The police have recorded her dying declaration in the presence of a doctor and magistrate.
Athagarh SDPO Biswajit Mohanty stated that an investigation is underway to verify the claims and circumstances. The body has been sent for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
