A devastating fire broke out in Muzaffarpur’s Motipur Nagar Parishad area on Friday night and killed five members of the same family instantly.
Officials confirmed that five others sustained serious injuries and doctors at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) are treating them.
Kumar Raghvendra Raghav, Chairman of Motipur Nagar Parishad, said the incident occurred on Neta Road in Ward No. 13. He added that the fire brigade continues to battle the blaze, and preliminary reports suggest a short circuit may have triggered the fire.
Moreover, firefighting teams rushed to the site immediately after receiving the alert. They began operations to control the flames and rescue those trapped inside.
Raghav described the tragedy as heartbreaking and paid tribute to the deceased. He also expressed hope for the recovery of the injured.
Meanwhile, officials assured that further investigation will determine the exact cause of the fire. They emphasised that the administration remains focused on relief measures and medical support for the victims’ families.
