Chennai: Trent Boult and Rahul Chahar starred for Mumbai Indians as the Rohit Sharma-led side defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 13 runs in IPL 2021 match. Chasing 151, SRH were bundled out for 137 in 19.5 overs.
Kieron Pollard smashed 35* runs in 22 balls to help MI reach 150/5 in 20 overs.
Once again, the Sunrisers Hyderabad openers — Jonny Bairstow and David Warner — gave the team an excellent start. A hit wicket (Bairstow) and a run out (Warner) derailed the SRH chase as the Mumbai Indians gained a huge advantage. The Hyderabad middle-order couldn’t deal with the pressure. Vijay Shankar put up a decent fight but it wasn’t enough. Rahul Chahar and Trent Boult took three wickets each for MI and the two-time defending champion defended 150 successfully, posting a second win of the tournament in the process. Meanwhile, Sunrisers are yet to open their account in IPL 2021 and hold a 0-6 win-loss record in Chennai.
TOSS RESULT – Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elects to bat first. MI had brought in Adam Milne to replace Marco Jansen in the playing XI tonight.
