India pacer Mohammed Siraj launched Stumped: Life Behind and Beyond The Twenty-Two Yards, the autobiography of 1983 World Cup-winning wicketkeeper Syed Kirmani, at an event in Hyderabad attended by cricket legends and dignitaries.
Present at the ceremony were Kirmani himself, former India all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath, ex-captain Mohammed Azharuddin, and Telangana Labour Minister Vivek Venkatswamy, among others.
Siraj hailed Kirmani as a role model for younger generations, recalling praise from other cricketers about his exceptional wicketkeeping reflexes. Kirmani, in turn, congratulated Siraj for his spirited performances, particularly in the recent Test series against England.
Azharuddin lauded Kirmani’s jovial nature and urged aspiring wicketkeepers to seek guidance from the veteran, calling him “one of the finest wicketkeepers the world has ever produced.” Venkatswamy conveyed that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, though unable to attend, remains committed to supporting sports development in Telangana.
The book, already released in Bengaluru, marks another milestone in Kirmani’s efforts to inspire and mentor the next generation of cricketers.
