Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has been fined 15% of his match fee for a fiery on-field send-off directed at England opener Ben Duckett during Day 4 of the third Test at Lord’s.
The incident occurred in the first session when Siraj dismissed Duckett after a relentless spell of fast bowling. Following the dismissal, Siraj celebrated by roaring directly in Duckett’s face and brushing past his shoulder — an action that quickly stirred controversy.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) found Siraj guilty of breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct, specifically Article 2.5, which pertains to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal.”
Alongside the fine, Siraj has also been handed one demerit point. This was his first offence in a 24-month period.
The aggressive celebration came on the heels of heightened tensions between India and England, following heated exchanges on Day 3 involving Shubman Gill and Zak Crawley.
