The initiative, driven by Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) and Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS), aims to chart out a roadmap for reducing dependency on foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the unmanned aerial systems space.
The event comes in the wake of recent India-Pakistan engagements, including Operation Sindoor, where indigenous UAVs and C-UAS platforms played a crucial role in precision operations and troop protection, demonstrating the operational maturity of India’s defence tech.
The workshop is expected to unite defence personnel, strategic experts, scientists, and industry leaders to forge a national strategy for indigenising critical UAV and C-UAS components. Attendees will participate in expert talks, live demonstrations, and policy discussions.
The proceedings will be inaugurated by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, while Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, will deliver the Closing Address, unveiling a strategic policy document.
This initiative aligns with the broader vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, reaffirming India’s push to become a global hub for advanced defence technologies.
