Kantabanji MLA Laxman Bagh alleged that he received a death threat while visiting the local railway station on Wednesday night.
The BJP legislator, who defeated BJD chief Naveen Patnaik in the last Assembly election, claimed that a group of men abused him and threatened to kill him.
According to his complaint, Bagh went to the station during the Visakhapatnam–Korba Link Express schedule to meet a friend. He noticed more than 50 men, women, and children waiting to travel. When he asked about their destination, they reportedly said they were heading to Hyderabad and Vijayawada for migrant work.
Bagh stated that he immediately informed the task force, Railway Protection Force, and local police about the migration issue. At that time, Mohammad Imran Khan alias Bunty, Bunty Behera, and six others allegedly confronted him. He accused them of using abusive language and issuing death threats.
The MLA submitted a written complaint to the Government Railway Police (GRP). Kantabanji GRP officer Makaru Sahu confirmed that the complaint has been forwarded to senior GRP officials in Titlagarh for further action.
Bagh has often raised concerns about migration and local development in his constituency. He said the incident reflects the challenges faced in addressing the region’s issues and demanded strict action against those involved.
