Power, drinking water supply, and roads are three essential services needed by citizens, whether in rural or urban areas. To address these challenges and improve the standard of living, the Hon’ble Chief Minister has initiated an integrated implementation system known as Mission PoWaR (Power, Water & Roads).
To realise the vision and directives of the Chief Minister, a preparatory meeting was held today, chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Rural Development, Rabi Narayan Naik, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, and DC-cum-ACS Anu Garg.
During the meeting, it was discussed that an inter-ministerial committee, along with officials from various departments, will be formed to regularly review the progress of the work. District Collectors will provide regular status reports on a Panchayat-wise basis.
The objective of Mission PoWaR is to ensure the provision of power, drinking water, and last-mile connectivity to every village. The mission will follow three core principles: speed, scale, and quality, as stated by the Deputy CM Singh Deo. This integrated approach aims to ensure that projects are implemented and completed promptly.
Minister Naik emphasised the goal of achieving universal coverage of drinking water by March 2027. Areas affected by fluoride will be included in a fluoride removal initiative to promote better health. To achieve last-mile connectivity, a saturation drive will be conducted by all relevant departments with the assistance of district collectors, targeting any remaining habitations and hamlets through smaller or single projects.
Key officials present at the meeting included Principal Secretary for Energy, Vishal Kumar Dev; Commissioner-cum-Secretary for Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, S.N. Girish; Director of Drinking Water, Vineet Bhardwaj; Director of Special Projects, Siddharth Shankar Swain; and senior officers from the Energy, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water departments.
