Participants of the Miss World 2025 pageant immersed themselves in Telangana’s vibrant heritage during a cultural tour on Thursday.

Contestants from nine countries, dressed in traditional Indian saris, visited the sacred Lakshmi Narasimha Temple in Yadagirigutta, where they offered prayers and took part in rituals such as ‘Deepaaradhana’ (lamp-lighting ceremony). The temple visit also included participation in the ‘Kolaatam’ folk dance alongside local women, fostering a lively cultural exchange.

Meanwhile, 25 African contestants explored Pochampally village, famed globally for its handwoven ikat sarees. Recognized by the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as one of the ‘Best Tourism Villages,’ Pochampally offered the contestants a hands-on experience in spinning yarn using traditional charkhas, deepening their appreciation for Indian craftsmanship.

A special fashion show held in the village amphitheatre showcased models in handloom and ikat sarees, leaving international guests impressed by the elegance and artistry of Indian textiles.

These events are part of the Telangana government’s strategic plan to leverage the global attention from Miss World 2025 to promote the state’s tourism potential, elevate its international profile, and attract future investments.

Earlier in the week, contestants participated in a heritage walk at Charminar on May 13 and toured the UNESCO-listed Ramappa Temple in Mulugu on May 14. The Miss World 2025 competition, which began with a grand ceremony in Hyderabad on May 10, will continue through May 31.
