Khurda: A miscreant made a failed attempt to abduct a girl near Buddhanath temple under Balipatna police station limits in Khurda district after an elderly woman raised an alarm.
As per reports, the incident took place while the girl was heading towards home on her bicycle when the miscreant waylaid her and asked the girl for directions. In the meantime, he tried to gag her mouth with a piece of cloth.
Following this, she pushed the man and started screaming. On hearing her scream, a local resident came out of her house and raised an alarm.
The miscreant left the girl and fled from the spot to avoid getting caught. The incident has created an atmosphere of fear across the village.
