Bhubaneswar: The coronavirus infections in the state might touch 10,000 a day in the first week of May, according to Dr. Jayant Panda, Technical Spokesperson for Covid-19 management in Odisha.
Dr. Panda said the increasing trend will continue at least till May first week. Â The numbers will gradually increase, he added.
The state is fully prepared to tackle the situation, Dr. Panda said and added that there is nothing to panic about. Hospitals in Odisha have sufficient beds, ICU, training, testing, and tracking facility, PPE kits, and masks, he added.
He said much before the beginning of second-wave, Odisha was geared enough to keep the provisions like oxygen to the number of beds, PPE kits, masks, testing kits, all types of basic infrastructure from ventilators to Remdesivir injections in place.
Dr. Panda said presently even 20-30 percent of the beds, ventilators, and oxygen have not been used. He urged the people of the state not to panic and stock medicines at home. Time will come when the deadly virus will be defeated, he hoped.
