The Excise Department conducted raids in the Komna police jurisdiction of Nuapada district, seizing large quantities of country-made liquor and arresting four individuals.
The arrested persons include Padma Majhi (55) and Tularam Majhi (45) from Thenga village, Madan Majhi (26) from Biswanathpur, and Dasarath Bhoi from Kumutimunda. Acting on the directives of Excise Superintendent Sanghamitra Pradhan, a team led by Inspectors Hirabati Thati and Suresh Chandra Tandi launched the operation.
Raids were conducted at two locations in Thenga village, resulting in the seizure of 9.6 and 10 liters of liquor, and the arrest of Padma and Tularam. In Biswanathpur, 15 liters were seized from Madan, while Dasharath was arrested with 20 liters in Kumutimunda.
A separate raid in Bharatpada also led to liquor seizure, though the accused managed to escape. Officers Alekh Patel (Khariar IIC), Sachala Padhi (Nuapada IIC), ASI Dharmaraj Dandasena, and Amarnath Bhoi were actively involved in the operation.
The Excise Department has intensified its efforts to curb illegal liquor activities in the region, with further investigations underway.
