A tent owner and his wife were brutally attacked during a late-night robbery in Kamadari village in Puri district.
The masked intruders fled with gold ornaments and cash amounting to approximately one lakh rupees, leaving the couple critically injured.
The violent robbery occurred at the residence of Kumar Chatoi and his wife, Sailabala Chatoi, who were reportedly assaulted with iron rods by two masked individuals. The couple sustained severe injuries and are currently undergoing treatment in critical condition.
Amid the chaos, the couple’s young granddaughter displayed remarkable presence of mind by hiding under a bed, escaping harm during the horrifying ordeal.
Local police, led by the Balanga team, have launched an investigation into the incident. Evidence such as fingerprints and CCTV footage is being collected to track down the perpetrators. Initial findings suggest the attackers may have had prior knowledge of the family’s financial status.
The incident has sparked outrage and fear among local residents, who are demanding stricter security measures and increased police patrolling in the area to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
As investigations continue, authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police promptly.
