In a tragic incident, Naxalites killed two men in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, accusing them of being police informers.
The victims, Baman Kashyap (29) and Anis Ram Poyam (38) were attacked by unidentified assailants at their village Todma under Barsoor police station limits on Wednesday evening, according to police officials.
Upon receiving the alert, a team of security personnel was dispatched to the village, which is located deep in the forest on the Dantewada-Bijapur district border. Further details about the incident are awaited as the investigation continues.
Kashyap, one of the victims, was employed as a ‘Shiksha doot’ (temporary visiting teacher) at a government school in the area. A pamphlet from the Aaamdai Area Committee of the East Bastar division of the Maoists, found at the scene, accused him of providing information to the police about Maoist movements before the Thulthuli encounter in October 2024.
This incident adds to the ongoing violence in the Bastar region, where Maoists have killed seven individuals this year alone.
