The political landscape of Odisha has caught fire following a sharp and direct confrontation between senior leaders over the CJP (Citizens for Justice and Peace / controversial judicial or civil society grouping context) issue.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Manmohan Samal launched a scathing verbal assault on Leader of Opposition and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo Naveen Patnaik, accusing him of extending support to anti-national elements.
Addressing the media, Samal did not hold back, criticising Patnaik’s recent political stance and labelling him as “directionless and lost.” According to the senior BJP leader, the opposition camp is struggling to find its footing, raising random issues without understanding their broader implications on national sovereignty.
“Some self-proclaimed leaders are prioritising personal political interests far above national interests,” Samal stated firmly. He emphasised that the people of Odisha possess deep patriotic values and will never digest or tolerate any support extended toward unconstitutional or anti-national forces operating within the country. “Living in India and speaking against the nation’s integrity is something the public will never accept,” he added.
Political analysts view this fiery exchange as an escalation of hostilities between the ruling party and the opposition in Odisha, signalling an aggressive political climate ahead of upcoming legislative debates. The controversy surrounding the opposition’s alleged alignment has given the ruling camp fresh ammunition to question the BJD’s nationalist credentials, setting the stage for intense political polarisation across the state.
