A shocking incident unfolded in Arkil village under Rengali Dam Site police limits in Angul district, where Muralidhar Behera allegedly killed his son Kuja Behera and buried the body secretly five days ago.
Police detained Muralidhar, his wife, and Kuja’s first wife for questioning after receiving a complaint.
Kuja had married nearly ten years ago and had two children with his first wife. Four years ago, he brought home a second wife, which his family strongly opposed. They refused to let her stay in the family house, forcing Kuja to live separately with her on land owned by his father. Frequent disputes erupted between the two households over the relationship.
Investigators said that during one such confrontation, Muralidhar allegedly attacked Kuja, causing fatal injuries. He then buried the body to hide the crime. Police recovered evidence from the site and began verifying the sequence of events.
Officers confirmed that the family’s long-standing feud over Kuja’s second marriage triggered repeated clashes. The police team is now examining witness statements and forensic details to determine the exact cause of death.
