A tragic railway accident claimed the life of a 52-year-old man near Kukudahad village, close to the 172/15–17 mile marker on the railway line under Kantabanji GRP jurisdiction.
According to reports, locals spotted a body lying beside the tracks early in the morning and immediately alerted the Government Railway Police (GRP). Upon arrival, GRP officials launched an investigation and identified the deceased as Ghanshyam Seth, a resident of Ashoknagar in Kantabanji.
Preliminary findings suggest that Seth was attempting to cross the railway tracks last night when he was struck by a passing train. GRP officers confirmed the fatal collision and have registered a case (46/2025) to probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The body was seized and sent to Kantabanji hospital for post-mortem examination. After completion of the autopsy, the remains were handed over to the family. GRP officer Makaru Sahu stated that the investigation is ongoing.
