A shocking incident occurred in Rengalkani village under Jujumura police limits in Sambalpur district, where a son allegedly killed his elderly mother after a violent assault.
The victim, identified as Janani Bhoi, was attacked inside her house on Wednesday. According to police, her youngest son, Purnachandra Bhoi, demanded food from her. When she refused, he assaulted her with an iron pipe, leading to her death at the spot.
Local youths caught the accused while he was attempting to flee and handed him over to the police. Villagers expressed outrage over the brutal act, calling it an unimaginable tragedy.
Police officers from Jujumura station, led by Inspector Anima Ekka, reached the scene and began an investigation. Officials confirmed that Janani Bhoi had four sons, but only the youngest was present at home during the incident. A case has been registered, and further inquiry is underway.
