A youth from Undrakonda village in Malkangiri district climbed a mobile tower in Singarajkonda village and threatened to end his life over a love-related issue.
The incident occurred early Saturday morning and lasted nearly five hours. Locals spotted the youth atop the tower and alerted the fire services. The rescue team reached the spot and successfully brought him down after a prolonged effort.
Identified as Adma Madkami from Shanghel Palli under Podia police limits, the youth had reportedly come to Singaraj Konda for personal reasons. He climbed the tower and began shouting threats to jump, drawing a crowd of concerned villagers.
From around 4 AM to 9 AM, he remained perched on the tower, refusing to come down. Fire services personnel from Malkangiri arrived and initiated a rescue operation. After hours of persuasion and tactical effort, they managed to bring him down safely.
Officials confirmed that the youth is now stable and under observation.
