Mahavatar Narsimha, directed by Ashwin Kumar, has stormed the box office, becoming the country’s highest-grossing animated film.
Released in five languages, with 2D and 3D formats, the mythological tale earned ₹91.25 crore within just ten days of release, eclipsing global titans like Spider-Man and Kung Fu Panda at the domestic box office.
Based on three ancient Puranas and crafted by Kleem Productions alongside Hombale Films, the film narrates the divine saga of Prahlad Maharaj and the fierce avatar of Narasimha. The Telugu 3D version led with an astounding 88.94% occupancy rate, while the Hindi 3D release followed close behind at 68.30%, marking its pan-India appeal.
As Mahavatar Narsimha crosses Rs 112 crore globally, it also kickstarts a broader cinematic universe, with upcoming instalments like Mahavatar Parshuram and Mahavatar Kalki already in development. Despite competition from titles like Saiyaara and Dhadak 2, the film continues its spiritual and commercial ascent, redefining what animated storytelling can achieve in India.
