Aspirants for Leave Training Reserve (LTR) teacher posts are continuing their protest outside the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) office in Bhubaneswar, demanding the immediate release of the merit list for high school teacher recruitment. The sit-in demonstration entered its eighth consecutive day on Monday.
The LTR recruitment process began in 2023, with approximately 6,025 teaching positions announced across Arts, Odia, Hindi, and Sanskrit subjects. Following the declaration of results, certificate verification was completed starting January 22, 2026. However, despite the verification process being concluded, the OSSC has yet to publish the official merit list, leading to growing frustration among aspirants.
Hundreds of candidates have intensified their agitation, with over a thousand aspirants reportedly joining the protest. Demonstrators continued their sit-in through the night outside the OSSC office.
One protester said, “We met a delegation and were informed that the merit list would be released soon. It has been eight days since our protest began, yet there has been no update on the website or through any official notification.”
Another aspirant added, “We will continue our protest until an official statement is issued. We are committed to staying here as long as necessary to ensure our concerns are addressed.”
The demonstration reflects the growing demand for transparency and timely communication in public recruitment processes in Odisha.
