The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has released a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the sale of components from the chariots used in the annual Rath Yatra.
The move aims to enhance transparency and streamline the allocation process for sacred materials.
According to the newly released SOP, the price of a chariot wheel has been set at Rs 3 lakh, while other components will be sold at structured rates. The administration has outlined clear guidelines for the purchase and distribution of these items, ensuring that devotees and collectors can acquire them in an organised manner.
SJTA officials emphasised that the SOP was introduced to prevent unauthorised transactions and maintain the sanctity of the materials used in Lord Jagannath’s grand procession. The chariots, which are crafted from sacred wood, hold immense religious significance, and the new pricing structure ensures that the legacy is preserved while facilitating orderly distribution.
Devotees and interested buyers can obtain further details from the SJTA office, where the revised price list and purchasing process have been made publicly available.
