More than 30 students of Aragad Government Upper Primary School in Puri district’s Delanga block were hospitalised after consuming a mid‑day meal contaminated by a dead lizard.
Six students in critical condition were shifted to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital, while others received treatment at the Delanga Community Health Centre.
The incident triggered panic among parents and guardians, who gathered at the hospital demanding strict action against the cook and teachers responsible for meal preparation. Authorities have launched an inquiry into the alleged negligence that led to the contamination.
