The body of a lineman working with Tata Power was discovered under an overbridge near Samal Auto in Keonjhar town on March 6.
The deceased, identified as Debasish Swain from Betanati village in Mayurbhanj district, was found seated on his scooter.
Witnesses last saw him around 9 pm the previous night at Mining Road, where he was drinking tea. His sudden presence near the overbridge and the circumstances of his death have raised questions among colleagues, who demanded a thorough investigation.
Family members alleged murder, pointing to injuries on his head and leg. Police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to the district headquarters hospital for post-mortem. Officials stated that the exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy.
Swain lived in Samantaraypur with his wife, young daughter, and parents in a rented house. News of his death shocked Tata Power employees, who, along with senior officials, visited the hospital to pay their respects. Executive Engineer Meenaketan Samal expressed condolences and assured that the cause of death would be clarified after medical examination.
