The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) is setting a new benchmark in healthcare digitisation with the introduction of its advanced Health Management Information System (HMIS).
This sophisticated platform, developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), is scheduled to roll out on April 28, 2025, replacing the legacy system that has served since 2005.
The new system promises enhanced user experience, security, and service efficiency. Key features include PAN-based beneficiary identification, automated payment verification, real-time application tracking, and fully online workflows for card modifications and approvals. Beneficiaries are encouraged to transition smoothly by updating their PAN details and utilising the upgraded mobile applications on Android and iOS platforms.
To facilitate this transformation, CGHS services will remain closed on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Legacy websites will be retired, with services migrating to the new portal . The overhaul aims to reduce errors, improve transparency, and boost efficiency, marking a significant milestone in India’s healthcare evolution.
