Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today Bargarh and joined the event of release of the 17th Installment to 9.26 crore beneficiary farmers under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) through Direct Benefit Transfer amounting to more than Rs 20,000 crores.
About 31.62 lakh farmers of Odisha received Rs 632.48 crore today under PM-KISAN Yojana as Rs 2000 was credited to the bank account of each beneficiary. Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the programme from Varanasi.
After reaching Bargarh, the Chief Minister held a ‘road show’ in with thousands of people thronging the venue. He paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. He shook hands with people all along the way. People welcomed the Chief Minister with great enthusiasm holding placards. There was great enthusiasm among the people for the new CM.
The Chief Minister thanked the people of Bargarh for their tremendous enthusiasm and support and promised to visit the district again very soon.
Addressing the program, Chief Minister Majhi highly praised the Prime Minister and said, “PM Modi is a true friend of farmers. All the support to the farmers is going directly to the bank account through DBT. This scheme has paved the way for the development of the farmers.”
CM Majhi also congratulated the 31.62 lakh beneficiary farmers of Odisha who received Rs. 2000 each in their bank account in the 17th installment of the PM-KISAN,
He further said that the PM-KISAN Yojana is a farmer welfare progressive scheme introduced by the central government to integrate farmers into the mainstream. The scheme was implemented by the Modi government in February 2019 to accelerate the process of farmer development and poverty reduction.
The Chief Minister said that on the first day of our government in Odisha, my cabinet decided to increase the minimum support price to Rs 3100 for the collection of paddy from farmers.
“As promised by the previous government, the bonus of Rs. 100 was not given. Instead, there was Katni-Chhatna,” Majhi said adding, “My government is the people’s government. All our promises to common people will be fulfilled. Empowerment and welfare of farmers in our state are the main objectives of the state government. Our government is planning to implement the development plans and programs made by the central government for many more farmers in the coming days.”
He said, “I want no eligible farmer to miss out on the benefits under this scheme. Within the next 15 days, all eligible farmers will be included in this scheme and they will get the benefit in the next instalment.
In the next budget, we will take public opinion into account and a website will be launched for this soon, CM Mohan Majhi added that the Budget will be prepared according to public opinion.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, MP Pradeep Purohit, Bijepur MLA Sanat Gartia, Bargarh MLA Ashwini Sarangi, Attabira MLA Nihar Mahananda and Bhatli MLA Irasish Acharya and other senior leaders were present in the event.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan received complaint letters from local people and various organizations at Bargarh Circuit House.
