In a disturbing incident that unfolded in broad daylight, three individuals were left critically injured following a violent group assault in the Bharatpur area of Odisha’s capital city.
The attack, reportedly triggered by a long-standing land dispute, took place in Samapur under the jurisdiction of Bharatpur Police Station.
According to eyewitness reports, a mob of approximately 20 to 30 youths launched a sudden attack, severely assaulting individuals believed to be party to the dispute. The victims, sustaining serious injuries, were immediately rushed to a local medical facility for emergency treatment.
Police officials have begun an investigation and are working to identify and apprehend those involved. Preliminary inquiries suggest the violence was a direct fallout of a personal land ownership conflict, which had been simmering for some time.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in curbing land-related violence in urban and peri-urban areas of Odisha. With tensions still high in the locality, officials have tightened security to prevent any further escalation.
