A land dispute escalated tragically in Bhubaneswar’s Sundarpada area, resulting in the death of Sasmit Biswal, a builder from the Bhimpur locality.
The incident occurred on Friday, when Biswal’s body was discovered in a field under suspicious circumstances, along with his two-wheeler nearby.
Police investigations have revealed that the primary motive behind the murder appears to be a property-related conflict. A complaint lodged by Biswal’s brother, Debadutta Mohanty, has named seven individuals as suspects in the case. As of now, three people have been detained for questioning.
Initial inquiries suggest a history of disputes between the deceased and Tulu Mohanty, a former business associate, over land dealings. This ongoing disagreement is believed to have culminated in the fatal incident.
Authorities have sent Biswal’s body for postmortem and have intensified efforts to unravel the full details of the case. The tragic incident highlights growing concerns over property disputes in the region, which have sometimes resulted in violence.
