The Koraput district administration has banned the sale of meat, chicken, fish, eggs, and other non-vegetarian items on January 26, 2026, to maintain the solemnity of the 77th Republic Day.

Collector and District Magistrate Manoj Satyawan Mahajan issued the order and directed all Tahsildars, Block Development Officers, and Executive Officers to release local notifications. The directive emphasised that the ban would preserve the dignity and decorum of the national celebrations.

Furthermore, the administration appealed to shopkeepers and citizens to cooperate with the instructions. Around 240 Panchayat heads and dignitaries will participate in Republic Day events across the district, making the occasion significant for grassroots leadership and public involvement.
