Koraput: Nandapur police today caught four Koraput: 4 Held From Smuggling Ganja to Maharashtra In SUV and seized cannabis worth Rs 15 lakhs from an SUV on the Odisha-Andhra border in Koraput district.
After getting information from special sources about smuggling of cannabis from the border area to Maharashtra, the Nandapur police had laid a trap.
A team of Nandpur Police, led by SDPO Sanjay Mohapatra, erected a barricade near Dakabangla Chowk and intercepted a speeding Scorpio vehicle. Upon checking, the cops found a huge quantity of ganja stashed in gunny bags from the vehicle.
According to the police, 154 kg of cannabis which has an estimated value of more than 15 lakhs was recovered from the vehicle.
“One of the arrested accused, Ramachandra Golari, hails from Odisha’s Chitrakonda area while the other three are interstate mafia— Abhjit Baidya, Sapneel Sinde and Vikram Sinde of Maharashtra area,” informed SDPO Sanjay Mohapatra.
