Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in Bhubaneswar has set up a control room to facilitate the return of Nepali students.

This comes after a B.Tech 3rd year Nepali student’s suicide inside her hostel room.

The University has appealed to Nepali students to return to campus and resume their classes after an unfortunate incident led to the temporary suspension of the hostel.

The university has since withdrawn the suspension, established a 24×7 control room, and set up a helpline to support Nepali students returning to campus. KIIT remains committed to the safety and well-being of all its students.

Additionally, a 24×7 helpline (+91 7847064550 & +91 7855029322) has been set up to provide support and guidance. We urge all Nepali students to reach out for any assistance. KIIT remains committed to their safety and well-being.

The University posted on its X handle,

“A dedicated control room is open 24×7 at KIIT Campus 6 to facilitate the return of Nepali students to the KIIT campus. Additionally, a 24×7 helpline [+91 7847064550 & +91 7855029322] has been set up to provide support and guidance. We urge all Nepali students to reach out for any assistance. KIIT authorities deeply regret the recent campus incident and have issued an apology. In response, two hostel officials have been suspended, two security staff members terminated, and one senior administrative officer from the International Relations Office (IRO) suspended. The university is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students and staff.

The incident involved the suicide of a Nepali girl student, allegedly following a fight with her boyfriend, which caused acute tension among students.

Despite efforts by the KIIT authorities to calm the situation, students blocked the main road and created obstacles.
