Keonjhar police launched a special drive against illegal LPG cylinder hoarding and black marketing in Badbil police station limits, arresting two accused and seizing large quantities of cylinders.
Acting on credible information, police raided the house of Mohammad Samer in the Sadhusingh Hatting area. Officers seized 36 domestic LPG cylinders and two small five-litre cylinders. Investigations confirmed Samer stored them illegally. Police registered Badbil PS Case No. 122/2026 and forwarded him to court.
In another raid, police searched Om Prakash Gupta’s shop at Badbil Daily Market. They seized 18 LPG cylinders kept for illegal sale at higher prices. Police registered Badbil PS Case No. 123/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Essential Commodities Act.
Both accused face charges under Sections 303(2)/317(2) of BNS and Section 7 of the Essential Commodities Act. Police confirmed that further investigation is underway and legal proceedings will follow.
Keonjhar SP directed the operation, which involved coordinated raids to curb the black marketing of LPG cylinders. Police stressed that strict enforcement will continue to prevent illegal storage and protect consumers.
