Odisha Vigilance has placed Sri Nityananda Nayak, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of KL Division, Keonjhar, under arrest for possessing disproportionate assets (DA) far exceeding his legal income.
During a two-day raid, authorities uncovered a concealed farmhouse in Chhendipada, Angul, sprawling over 1.50 acres. The site includes:
- An outhouse of 1432 sqft
- A second structure spanning 314 sqft
- A pond excavated at an estimated Rs 30 lakhs
- Two borewells, a well
- Plantations of coconut, banana, and mango trees
Despite attempts to hide the asset, a diary retrieved from Nayak’s Keonjhar residence revealed detailed financial records about the farmhouse. This discovery led Vigilance and technical teams to trace and assess the property.
The sweeping investigation also recovered:
- A multi-storeyed building of 9000 sqft in Angul
- 115 land plots
- 200 grams of gold
- Rs 10.25 lakh in cash
- Deposits over Rs 50.38 lakh
- Two four-wheelers
A case has been registered at Balasore Vigilance PS under the Prevention of Corruption Act (Case No. 6/2025). Sri Nayak was formally arrested and will be produced before the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar.
