Judges in Phulbani hand down sentences to Ramesh Chandra Nayak and Dhruba Charan Majhi. Nayak, the ex-headmaster of Tuakula NPS and current assistant teacher at Sadengi PUPS, joins Majhi, the ex-president of VEC at Tuakula NPS.
Authorities charge them under sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(c)(d) of the PC Act 1988, along with 409 and 120-B IPC. They misappropriate government money without building the new primary school at Tuakula.
The Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani, rules on this Odisha Vigilance conviction today. Each man receives four years of rigorous imprisonment and a Rs.20,000 fine. Guards escort both convicts to jail immediately after the verdict.
Nayak continues as an assistant teacher at Sadengi PUPS under Tumudibandha Block in Kandhamal district. Majhi holds his past role as VEC president. Officials from Odisha Vigilance plan to push for Nayak’s dismissal from service due to this conviction.
